Can anyone recommend a number plate supplier that will do military style white on black plate please. I've been all over the fleabay and the like but can only find pressed ally silver on black.

I seem to recall if you do a quick search on the tinternet a TV show called salvage squad classic cars. Drew went to a manufacture that specialises in old number plates. Are you trying to recreate the original six plate.

Get the pressed ones and run a roller with while paint over.

In case anyone else is looking, classicplatesonline.co.uk do pretty much every type of number plate you'll need, including stick on vinyl.

I thought that the Defender era vehicles had silver on black rather than white on black.

I agree I don't think I have seen white characters on a registration plate other painted on an armoured vehicle or white stick-on characters where the original pressed aluminium plate has been wrecked.

I agree too, and earlier Land Rovers (109s and Lightweights) had silver on black as well. I only saw 1 Lightweight with white letters and that was a locally made 'stencil' number plate.
