Could anyone on the forum tell me what type of diesel engine is in the Defender type Land Rovers used by the British army, I was wondering about this lately, because someone told me it was a V8 diesel.
The army here still use the 3.9 litre Isuzu diesel engine, which was scheduled for replacement 9 years ago, but they are still using them, a testement to their reliability I suppose.
I also heard the US Rangers in Iraq ordered Land Rovers from England because the HumVees were too unreliable in desert conditions.

According to LRO this month, 300tdi Discos and landys are still being bought new in the falklands.

No this month (may) even though its only April. Theres a section about the falklands and how they rely on LRs and the 600 new ones that went to the bottom of the atlantic on board the atlantic conveyor. Its only just come out a couple of days ago.

I know. I was thinking about subscribing - £45 for 13 issues and a free LR fleece. But I dont like getting fleeced. No ones gonna pull the wool over my eyes!

A buddy of mine in the Danish Army, told me when he was in Irak last year, he hitched a ride a couple of time with the Brits when going around town.

It was the same Defenders they used in the Falklands 25 years ago.
Inside the base itself, they drove brand new leased LR3's from Kuwait.

They are still using the 300TDI engines in the Landy's as i have a NEW 300 TDI to fit to a Wolf tomorrow. They do have a hand full of TD5 landy's running around Catterick at the mo but not in IRR green.

i'm waiting till they offer something really really really good until i subscribe. like, subscribe now and get this warn 100,000,000lb winch

we got a time warp here or what?

Is it common or practicle to put a turbo on and ex M.O.D Defender?I see a tidy one on Ebay, but peoples biggest moan about N/A Defenders is their lack of acceleration.Valid?

If it's a Defender then it'll have a TDi in it. If it's a 110 then it'll be the old naturally asthmatic 2.5, which are tortoise-like in the brrm brrm department .
