Having just got back from a Mid Wales trip I was chuffed to bits to find a Land Rover Monthly on my doorstep and to get a really nice mention in it. Because of that I decided to do something a little bit different with the film for this trip.

As well as my usual film covering the best of the day’s action, I’ve also included links to ‘drivers eye view’ films of some of the best lanes. So if a lane interests you, you can get a real feel for what it’s like to drive it!

Page 174 of the magazine if you’re interested in seeing the article. :D

Another nice vid ;) Good stuff.

On anther note. Obviously your group of chaps and chapesses get out laning quite a bit. I was wondering if any of you guys are GLASS members and if you have any plans to help out with the Deregulation bill and trying to quash the anti's attempts to downgrade byways and ucr's?

I don't like to speak for anyone else I lane with however as it's a past time I am obviously passionate about and I am keen to support any organisation or effort to maintain it.

Both as a group and from the perspective of me personally making promo vid's, we tried to support the Peaks Park protests. Either myself or someone from the Lowrangers attended quite a number of the events/protests.

Without going into detail, we didn't get how that was approached and it left a bad taste so we backed away from it all.

However, I remain keen to support in anyway I can or in anyway Glass think I/we can help.

I don't believe anyone in our group is a GLASS member but you mentioning it has made me want to revisit that position.

Elle. You probably didnt know but there was going to be a voluntary 1 way on those steps just outside Llangollen - Going Downhill. Residents complained and want the council to close it. Mainly due to bikes going flat out up there trying to get up it and falling off

Not 100% sure how widely it got publicized,

Its another nice vid though :)

No not heard that but thanks for the heads up. I always thought it was out of the way there and there was no one too bother. I suspect its more to do with the access route to the lane which is a bit narrow

Got your PM elle. Will reply shortly.

I can't speak for the organisation of the Peaks protests as unfortunately i wasn't able to attend.

I have started a separate thread about the Deregulation bill and how it will affect us.

Thanks for the feedback chaps. I made this one about 3 minutes longer than usual. Better or worse for that? Don't want to bore people to death but sometimes 6 minute video's don't let me squeeze in all the detail I'd like!

i'm local and havn't become aware of it

I was being discussed Ste but I never really heard if it came in or not - its voluntary anyway at the end of the day.

But I do know the council had been out having a look

will try and dig up where it was

When we were in the area on Whitestones I noticed all the off piste damage up there that got the lane temporarily shut for a while (so I was told)

Defies belief. But I have to say I took a good look and the ruts in the damage appeared very deep to me. Too deep to be from a 4x4. I'd suggest a tree came down and a farmer in a tractor had to take a detour.

Isn't the farmer up there notorious for not liking 4x4 drivers? My guess is 4x4's were blamed for something the farmer did! I mean where the off piste driving is it would hardly have been entertaining or a thrill. You could say not as interesting as the track itself in that section!

Don't see it myself but that's just my opinion!

Time to go all CSI on the tread patterns etc. :)

Even tratters tend not to have tractor tyres fitted.. :D

lol. Yeah I don't really know and it's only guess work but they were clean cut very deep ruts with no sign of a diff drag mark dragging or drops of oil and bits of rusting bodywork. I deduce it can't possibly have been a Land Rover!!!!

Maybe I've missed my calling!

there were off piste pictures on facebook, 2 x landys stuck in it a attempts being made to winch them out, while another group drove past using the legal route

I'd like to track that down to see if it was the same place I was looking!
