Right I've been looking through the forum and keep seeing references to memory map. Can any one tell me more about it? where to get it what it runs on? what it does, how much etc

I have an IPAQ sitting around not doing much can I use it with memory map?

Memory map is Electronic OS mapping. So instead of buying a 1:50k or 1:25k papermap you can have it on your PC/handheld. with the advantage that if you have GPS hooked up it will also tell you exactly where you are.

What Ipaq have you got?? and has it got GPS built in or does it have Bluetooth. And it's free if you know where to look. or who to talk to??

FFS what's wrong wi'a map and compass.

Bloody Heathens! map & compass? what are you a pirate? Better on a 'puter. If you're in the motor just take a laptop.

Maps and Compasses are for boy scouts and photo opportunities. Great to look at before you leave, but once you are rolling there's nothing better than tracking your motor on the screen. You can even add comments to the lanes you drive... and if your navigator is young, nubile, blond and willing then there's always a parking opportunity! (oops sorry wife I digressed a little):D

Being a programmer I seriously believe that electronic is best, most flexible and if you look at the cost of OS maps for the UK.... most economical!

Advantage of a laptop... it will carry all UK maps without having to swap around. Many handhelds will not have sufficient capacity to hold the several Gb of data necesssary.

On another note, you're in Bicester, just a few (20) miles from us. If there are good lanes near you let us know and we would love to hook up for a day/evening out

you must be joking.. lanes? in oxon? where are you? (I tend to go between bicester and banbury)

ye but you dont have a landie jim lol :p

theres vitually nothing about in oxforshire, how about bedfordshire? theres a few out didcot way and east ilsley. was meant to be going out with a member of mudclub forum today but his landie had major oil leak, bloody landrovers, who'd have em ey

Now now folkies... Slitties do OK!

I seen some suzies doing some damn good stuff an my shogun put up a good show too...(though it needed a landy to pull it out when the going gets really tough!)

So, are there many decent lanes out toward bicester then? Its only about 30 miles from me so easily accessible

drove part of the ridgeway, starting out at Princes Risborough last week. A nice evening out it must be said!

****oles lol. ok I suppose you're right, I'd forgot about them. but 2 short lanes in the oxford outskirts are either gonna have been shagged by chavs on dirt bikes, or completely over grown. shall have to go and have a look!
