I've just bought a 1976 Series III, my first Land Rover, and I can see that this is going to be a frustrating but highly addictive relationship. I love the truck, despite the fact that it has stalled countless times, then didn't start (dead battery), then did start (new battery), then didn't start again (starter solenoid I think). Before I plunge in, I thought it would be nice to take it to a mechanic for a general check-up -- I'm not familiar enough with the vehicle to look through everything, but I'm happy to fix any problems I can find.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic near Oxford who understands customers who like to work on their own vehicles?

Thanks!

i take it you've had a bad expereince then ?

i speak as i find and have allways found them to be trustworthy and do what it says on the tin

yer and because they are land rover "specilists" they can charge what they like.

£45 for 1 track rod end. paddocks exactley same one "make and all" £6

yes sean very good but all the things i have heared about them and my personal experience i have found them bad! specially with series vehicals as they cant be "bothered" with them.
