Hi everybody, hello from a lovely sunny Ireland.
I bought my first Landy many moons ago (a 1976 109") which turned into a half finished project and ended up being swapped for a 1995 300Tdi Disco as I needed something that was ready to go.
Due to the pecularities of the motortax laws in Ireland the Disco turned out to be a rather expensive toy (over 1000 to tax a 2.5 these days) so the Disco in turn was changed for what should have been a vintage 110, however after many changes of plans it's turned out to be a RRC
She's a lovely old girl, 1978 chassis with a 1994 body, currently a cloth interior but there's a full leather interior waiting to go in (although I'm strangely attracted to the terrycloth). 2" lift, wheel arches etc. Interior is in pretty good condition, exterior is actually pretty reasonable. Sills will need doing in the not too distant future.
There's really only one problem with her, she's not a 110
So for the moment I'm trying to decide will I keep her or not and slowly putting out some feelers to see might there be a deal to be done. It's actually a great yoke and if I could have both the RRC and a 110 I'd be delighted but finances and spouse don't seem to think this is a good idea.
....the RRC does come with a nice bonus : a M&D fitted (back in the day) Mazda 3.5 slti
What are the opinions on this engine? I've read some wildly varying reports / opinions so I figured I'd ask here.
Is it as good as some people think it is? Would it be rare / desirable enough to make much of a difference when it comes to selling time?
Really what I hope to do is to get rid of the RRC and change it for a 110. I have access to a full (mostly) CSW body so wouldn't be overly concerned with the current configuration.
Any thoughts are most welcome, I'm trying to get a feel for what it is I have to work with. And of course if you happen to be looking for a RRC with a (very well kept) Mazda 3.5 do get in touch
