Help, just bought a 2001 freelnader td4 and it seems to suffer a little from lack of power on take of or at least until the turbo cuts in. Also wants to try and stall now and again. Local garage has a landy mechanic working for them and he has said its the Mass flow meter and it needs replacing.

Trouble is the price £245 for a landrover genuine part or £137 for a bosh. Or hey I could go onto ebay or autosensors and pick one up for round the £50 mark.

I've been warned off buying a cheap one as it could just fail.

Any thoughts on these cheap non landy parts??

cheers

Your tech needs to check the sensor using T4 live data to confirm it has an issue.

Don't bother with ebay units. You are throwing money away. Get a Bosch one. Have you priced up an Allmakes one which probably has the PR2 OEM label on the packaging? That may be better value.

Not sure whether he's done that or not, but we did unplug the unit and it ran alot better straight away, total difference in torque and pull from standing. So presumably it is faulty. Will ask about checking the sensor. Why is it that none of these things seem to be repairable/cleanable, I wonder whether a good blast with the air hose and clean may dot he job.. Thanks for the input

That pretty much confirms a faulty sensor. They are not servicable units so best throw it away and get a quality replacement.

Ideally go for a Genuine replacement, but in the real world, the Bosch OE one is the way forward.
