hi i have a p38 2.5 dse was just wonderin why carnt you just replace the mff with a standard 1 from the 2.5 bmw or omega
would sertanly be cheeper

DMF's obviously wear just like brake discs, pads, clutches, etc. It's just how it is.

When they are within limits they work a treat, changing gears has never been smoother.

It's a luxury vehicle, and they cost!

flywhel is different and yes all bmw use the dmf too onlt the td5 has a aftermarket solid conversion kit

Rakeway Engineering might be able to machine one for you as a solid replacement.
I bought a solid flywheel and uprated clutch from them as a replacement for the DMF on my defender 110. They're really helpful and know their stuff and the parts are excellent quality.

Beware of solid replacements, there seems to be a problem with crankshaft failures associated with replacing the DMF with solid on some Transits. Being a 6, the BMW crankshaft might be even more likely to fail through lack of torsional vibration damping.
