Hi guys been busy so not been on in a wee while. My td4 has started to bring on the engine management light. This happens when the throttle is down so far and is happening whilst going uphills or long stretches at higher revs. As soon as I back off the throttle the light goes out after a few seconds. The other thing I have noticed is there is a clear audible sound of air being drawn into the air box very noticeable from the interior. I have no clue if this is related at all.

Are there no other syptoms, e.g. Misfire, smokey exhaust, excessive fuel consumption etc. Have you had a look at the air filter to see if it's ok?

IIRC

Clogged filters and split hoses are often accompanied with smoke.

MIL problems going up hills are often associated with the fuel lift pump.

Thanks for all your replies. Sorry I havent replied at all. I haven't had no time to check yet but will have a quick look today. Yes there is smoke coming from the exhaust noticeably on startup now and when I accelerate hard which there wasnt before. The car was fully serviced with new filters etc not too long ago. It starts great and idles great.

Sorted

Fes up time. So day off and thought i'll have a quick look since last post. I had taken inlet manifold off to clean the years and years of gunk off. I have undertightened the jubilee clip at the top off the hose above the egr delete. It had slid down , hose was still attached however air was being drawn in at the top part of the hose. Problem sorted no engine management light and no smoke or rushing air noise.
I always assume the worst case and never check the simple things.o_O
