Hi,
Can I get some opinions from gearbox gurus about how much side to side play on the input shaft is acceptable please?
Box is an R380 on a Disco 2.

its not the side to side its direct in and out 2 thou is plenty

I once saw a man change the clutch on his p38 with r380 and I couldnt believe how much lift the input shaft had, he refitted it with new clutch then drove to Poland as you do!

I have read one of your posts before about the end float being the only problem to watch so I'll refit what I have. End float is ok.

But, what is inside the box that allows the shaft to move side to side so much? Surely something is wearing out if the side play goes from whatever it is in the factory to a few mm now?
There must come a point when a bearing or something needs replacing to fix that movement, doesn't it?
