I'm fitting roof spots just need to confirm colour and locatin on back of bulb connector as the wires are too grimy to make out any help appreciated.

Might I suggest you get a copy of the Haynes manual or even get the RAVE download.

It is perfect for answering these kinds of questions.

Cheers

Test! with a multi-meter or even a basic bulb and a bit of wire, it's not difficult  perhaps you should find someone to do it for U.

Blue/Orange for the right and Blue/Grey for the left

Hmmm that would account for why the relay isn't triggering. I've wires up my roof spots and they don't come on. The wiring is fine as I've directly connected them to the battery just to test them so it's either the wrong wire I've connected to or crap relay.

Can you hear the relay click when it energises?

Have you put a multimeter / bulb tester on the wire to see if you have 12V on it the wire you connected to when you want it?

Scotch blocks are rubbish.

Cheers

Is this wire side or from the front?

If it is the same as mine then, the earth ( black) should be ( as you look at the back of the bulb from inside the wing) on the LH side. Dip on top, Main on RH side.

I trust you have used fuses , relays and wiring that is correctly rated for what you are doing.

Yeah I got one of those kits from bolt on bits. 30 amp fuse and decent twin core. The lights are 50w led bit I reckon they only draw 5 amps each.

30 amp fuse? What current is actually being taken?

Twin core...:( nooooooo!
Lights are 50w leds and there's 4 of them. The kit is a 30 amp kit rated for 4 55w lights either led or normal. Twin core is good for up to 27amps so I'm well in the limit or are the specialist 12v solar/ battery camper van electrics fitters wrong? The I structions with the kit tell you to daisy chain the lights together. I wasn't happy with that so I joined them in pairs instead to ease the load and earthed them to the battery.
