have a slight problem with the main beam on my 2000my 2.5dse, dip beam comes on as normal then when you pull the stalk back for main it just flashes the lights and wont stay on main, i tried another, identical, stalk and no difference? is there a relay or fuse or summat i've missed?

Like most of the electrics on the P38 you aren't operating an on/off switch that then operates a relay. The stalk is telling the BECM to switch the lights on. If it's not the stalk, and you've proved that, then you need to get plugged in and see what the BECM is up to.

oh thats just great.....i have the eqv of the MOT on tuesday and i've sold the the thing subject to it passing the test:frusty: nearest dealer is 60miles away and since irishrover sold his 'pooter thing theres no-one else in the country with the knowledge or tech to do it, ah well at least i've a big tub of vaseline handy for the dealer visit.

If you've got the balls you might want to try a battery disconnect. As long as you've got all your codes it sounds like you've got little to lose.

connector c257v(Yellow). unplug check for corrosion if needed clean and replace, then try lights again. pin 12 is the input for main beam into the Becm from the headlight stalk. :) Also check the F1 10Amp fuse on the Becm
