So, the show season is nearing the end... or not so.
September hosts three shows;

The LRO Show (alright, August, not September),
formerly at the East of England Showground,
Peterborough is now to be held at Malvern, however...

Peterborough, on the same previously advertised
date for the LRO show there,
will be hosting the Land Rover Fest
http://www.landroverfest.com/
promoted by Live Promotions...

Live Promotions are also staging the 4x4 Show
at Stoneleigh Park 24-25 September,
not billed very well on the Stoneleigh Park website:
http://www.stoneleighpark.com/what/whatinfo.asp?ID=819410959845

although Live Promotions have their own site for the event
at: http://www.the4x4show.co.uk/ featuring a banner
at the base of the page for 4x4 Magazine
http://www.4x4i.com/ sister magazine to
Land Rover World http://www.landroverworld.co.uk/

who themselves promote the show at Eastnor Castle
yet the 4x4 Show website also features a nice banner ad
and link for...

....Land Rover Monthly http://www.lrm.co.uk/
Land Rover Monthly make no mention of the 4x4 Show,
not surprisingly as they host their own show
running alongside the Marque Day and Heritage run
held at Gaydon in May.

Methinks there are too many noses in the trough now for shows. The
only good thing I can see is that the geographical ditribution has
improved so people don't have to go so far to get to one.

Speaking of which - is anyone else going to the LRO show at Malvern? It
would be nice to meet up and match names (and sigs) to faces. ISTR someone
mentioning strapping an old CD to the Landy grille to aid AFL
identification. Anyone?

We'll be there - not with a CD on display though, as we like to remain
incognito at such events ;-)

I also believe David French will be taking the 6x6 101 too.

Oh well. I will probably wire one to the grille in any case. Anyone see a
silver Disco with a CD on the front, feel free to say hi. It would be nice
to meet folk in the real world, if only to wonder why you've been chatting
in cyberspace to such a bunch of weirdos for so long.

Now - is it to be The Best Poetry CD In The World Ever, or the wife's
Classic Chillout Album?

I actually (now) quite like it. You develop a picture in your mind as
to what folk may be like and although occasionally it can be a bit of
a shock, in general I've always be somewhat pleased that people do
turn out to be sort of what I thought they'd be like!

Young Austin being a good example, which reminds me, are you still
intending on going Austin? I understand we have a similarly huge
pitch for the 101 club stand, which seems unlikely to be filled, so if
anyone fancies joining us, you'd obviously be more than welcome.

It's funny, but I have met loads of folk from other newsgroups & they always turn out to be totally
different to what you imagine.

I have met three folk from this group, Wayne, Martyn & Mark Varley, all top blokes & not at all insane
;~)

I'm really cracking on with my 'refitting' of Tyson at the minute so a show would be good soon. I need a
bit of off-roading tuition too! Even the wife's going on an off road day with her Touareg! I feel left
out! I could get her & the nipper to come to a show, but the camping would cause a problem i fear! Not
for me you undertsand, there's nowhere to plug hair straighteners in!!

I often think of AFL as a kind of virtual pub where you can chat with
like-minded mates. Great to see we can have virtual fights as well. Hope
there's no virtual landlord to throw us out!

Would love to come, have weekend free and everything, trouble is emma
doesn't! Will come over on the sunday though. May see if I can talk Emma
into coming over Saturday night so we can have a drink together.

That's the spirit. Don't s'pose you could wangle the whole weekend,
as Deputy Shop Officer?
