can anyone tell me how to check the maf on my freelander td4 and how to locate it????? also what should i be looking for when checking it ??:confused:how do i no if its working or not help please... ps what does the maf really do???:doh:
 
MAF= Mass Air Flow. i.e. how much air is being drawn into the engine. In simple terms it is a heated element which is in the air intake system. the Engine Control Unit measures how much the air cools it as a guage of the airflow

The air filter chamber runs along the back of the engine and the MAF sensor is immediatly to the left as you face the engine almost behind the oil filler cap.

It has an electrical cable on the top and a quick check is to compare pull away with it connected to disconnected. If the pull away is better disconnected then it is probably failing. Higher revs will be poorer.
