Hey everyone. Long time reader first time writer ahahah. Today I had a free morning. Decided it was time to show some love to the old landy. I have an 03 Disco 2 with the Td5. I cleaned up the air filter and took the MAF off to hit it with some cleaner (I used the CRC brand MAF cleaner). It was super dirty. I noticed lots of soot behind the MAF so I removed the hose and cleaned it up real well. Once all dry I put it back on and the car fired right up then after 10-15 seconds she stalled out. After that she wouldn’t start. Cranks and turns over and wants to go but just isn’t. I disconnected the MAF to see if it would start and it didn’t. I took it all apart and tried again. Nothing. Dashboard is now showing a battery light which is new. I tried firing it up and it turned over like the battery was dead. Hooked it up my girlfriend’s car with jumped cables. The disco fired right up then stalled out again. One of the guys who works for us use to be a mechanic. He grabbed the can of MAF cleaner told me to turn her over and sprayed it down the hose. She ran for about half a minute then shut off. Hoping you guys can put me in the right direction.

Could simply be a batt with enough power to turn it over but not enough to fire the injectors.

did it run until you disconnected the jump leads? or did it stall out while still connected?
Have you stuck a diagnostic on it?

Welcome to the asylum by the way!!

I didn't even get the jump leads off before she shut off. realized now that the soot was in fact oil and think it's coming from the crankcase breather. I'll see if I can track down a nanocom to see what she says. thanks for the advice. im sure there will be quite a few more posts. cheers
