Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows of any economy boosting (not worried about power/torque) remaps for the above engine, or chips available (although I read somewhere that the engine can only be reprogrammed by serial input rather than replacing the whole ECU chip?). Also, does anyone know much about any software that can be used to remap this engine, I'd quite like to learn about it as much as possible? Cheers

Most if not all modern vehicles have the maps changed by uploading a new map to the ECU via the OBD port. Changing chips is old tech.

Diesels seem easy to chip, not sure about petrols ?

As above post a v8 petrol will never be cheap. No range rover will be a cheap car to run
Best to get a Prius lol

Looking at 10-15% max on a NA engine.... However I wouldn't bother as the torque converter is under enough strain as it is.

Don't worry I didn't get the V8 to save any cash! ;) I'm just interested in the idea of being able to fiddle around (safely!) with the engine ECU and if I ever succeed at this my priority will be getting the V8 from 14mpg to the mighty heights of ....15!! :p

I get over 15 without any mods and that's on gas which is less efficient then petrol!

I'd get 15 too if I didn't live up a bloody big hill!! :p PS - driver's door latch is slack I think - anyone know where to buy a replacement? Occasionally lock doesnt come all the way up, and when it does, pulling the handle occasionally results in no unlatching of the door lol! typical rangie, fix one problem it gives you another ;)
