Happy new year to all,
Defender td5 04. When i pull up at the lights or junction the engine starts 'hunting' or as if its only running on 4 cyl. after about 10 seconds it returns to normal tick over. otherwise its runs fine.
If i blip the throttle it sorts itself out straight away.
Not a big issue, but anyone got any ideas, thanks.

Check the connectors on the throttle pedal are clean. Mine did that for a month or two and when I took the pedal off to clean and paint the foot well the throttle connector was very manky with dirt and what looked like kettle scale. A quick squirt with carb cleaner, brush out with an old toothbrush and a jet of compressed air, and a smear of vaseline on each contact and its never done it since. Might be the same on yours.

When ours did that l replaced the injector harness and it cured the fault.
Check the red plug for oil at the ECU, as suggested above.

Hi mate if you find out what this is please let us no... Mine is doing a similar thing to yours by the sounds of it but haven't looked into it too much yet...

Thanks

Had a look at the plug and all around, no sign of oil at all. I'll have a look at the connectors on the throttle pedal next.

Did you remove the plug as the oil will be inside?
Also remove the injector loom plus where it comes out of the cylinder head to look for oil ingress its blue Iirc?
Worth measuring fuel pressure at the cyl head, again from memory 4 bar or 60 psi ish.
In tank fuel pumps dont last forever, is it running/ and is it delivering enough fuel?

Yes i separated the plug, all good. I'll have a look at the loom as you say at weekend as i've got to replace the rocker cover gasket, which i hope will cure the oil leak. The pump seems fine, as i say its just when i pull up and about 10seconds later it seems to sort its self out. Might have a look into checking fuel pressure anyway.
Thanks for your help.

Can't a harness be dogged though without oil in the plug? I'm wondering if this is the issue with mine but not convinced
