Hi all,
I know this has been covered many times but all the threads I have read have not been very clear.
I am fitting a defender lt77 with the lt230 transfer box into my series 3 200tdi after my original gearbox bit the dust. I have read some places that it will fit to the original gearbox cross member and other that say it needs to be cut off and moved and others that say you have to bolt through the chassis. Which of these it true?
I know the prop shafts will need changing and the cross member behind the engine have a channel cut for the front prop but what else is there? I am aware that the bulkhead will need the defender gearbox tunnel adding and I’ll need defender floors but is there anything else.
I would appreciate people who have actually done this conversion to give there advice and knowledge and not people that are just going to say it’s a bad idea and don’t do it just because they don’t like the idea.
Any advice appreciated.

Only thing I can remember is the rear prop has to be really short to fit the lt77/230.
@jamesmartin will be the man to tell you difference in length between the two set ups.

To save hassle can you not get a series box and sell the defender one you have? Iirc def lt77 are worth a couple of quid?
