I’ve seen on a few videos there’s a piece of foam / sponge within the gear shift space, to reduce the noise.

Can anyone tell me what this is called or link me to somewhere to buy?

Yes, they're very expensive. Some rodents ate mine. I remember being disturbed at the price when I last replaced it about four years ago. No doubt they've gone up since.

You could buy 3 crap ones on Ebay for that, or make your own maybe.
