i have but its the same as the other lt230t s unlike the lt230r s which use needle rollers for the intermediate geardoes anyone have rebuild instructions for an lt230 (22b) transfer. just want to make sure i have done it properly/needed any spacers/torques etc .... tia
in which case the intermediate should have a little end float there are shims that slide between the thrust washer and case, its easier to stick them in with grease whilst you roll gear into place, so once that determined, you secure shaft with a tab like series boxesmine are needle rollers, can i use the same torques on the inter shaft?
there were thrust washers i hope, and gear should slide in quite easy as it has to have end float, theres no big nut for roller type intermediate shaftthe bearings fit tight and there were no spacers when i took it apart. i have the tab with small bolt and the big nut
thats the lt230t with taper bearings not the needle roller type, you adjust nut till correct preload is added to the intermediate gear, you need a new crushable spacer that sits between the 2 taper bearings
yours is a 22d on a b suffix, all boxes with 20 plus are taper bearing intermediates ,teen numbered boxes ie 13d are needle roller intermediate and so latter are called lt230r and former lt230t,use that link to set your lt230t upthats what i was following but
Serial No. Prefixes 20D, 22D and 32D - Defender Serial No. Prefixes 28D and 34D - Discovery Serial No. Prefixes 14D, 15D, 20D, 26D, 27D, 28D and 30D - Range Rover Classic
isnt mine the 22b?
