Hi
I have read lots of threads but it remains unclear if I should remove the input gear from the transfer case prior to dropping it from LT77. All linkages are disconnected with just the bolts to the gearbox left to remove. I did read the gear should be removed from the back of the case by removing the round plate but other guides do not mention this step. Separation is happening with units on vehicle.
Thanks in advance. 1988 Defender 110

Just slide it off, keep it dead straight and level till it is off as if you let it fall down onto the seal you can knacker it, mind you, I would be replacing it when it is out for the sake of £2-3 anyway.
