I recently purchased a landy 90 and i am having trouble finding any spec on the engine. it is a 2.5 n/a diesel. "12J". does anyone know what the BHP is? also i am having a bit of trouble removing the useless viscous fan. i have not been able to imobilise the water pump shaft, i need this done so i can unscrew the fan, can anyone suggest anything?

Hi there,
Cant help with the fan question but I think the spec on your engine is, if its a 2.5 diesel not a tdi should be:
Max power @ 4000 rpm = 65.5bhp
It would be helpfull if you include what year the vehice is.

The vehicle is a D reg '86, but the engine although it is a 12J isnt the vehicles orignal engine, so i couldnt say how old it is, thanks for the info!

they sure did.. Thats a whole half a horse!! Wonder if its the front end or the arse?? Hope the figure is right, info is available from defender user manuals you can find online, they are the official ones downloaded in PDF format. Some nice bedtime reading..
