I've been very amused by the news this week that drivers of keyless locking cars are being advised to use a full cover steering lock. As series drivers we all know about steering locks but it set me wondering what other peices of old tech will come back? Advice to hold and turn the steering wheel in sefl-driving cars? Read the dipstick on "intelligent connected.." cars? Check tyre pressures using a gauge or looking at them before setting off?
 
Blinking heck - next you'll be talking about engine braking and muttering "only a fool breaks the two millisecond rule"
 
Remove the rotor from the distributor ...
 
This is a fantastic leap forward, er, I mean backward. Motor manufactures have saved motorists a valuable couple of seconds by introducing keyless cars and now they have to fit a bloody great lump of metal to their steering wheel. I'd rather have the car nicked than fluck about with that every day.

Just wait for "network enabled" "wifi-friendly" "designer" steering locks that are "just right for your new car"..... "check your steering lock from wherever you are...."
I hope not but fear the worst.
Mercedes will do an own branded one for 3 times the price that "talks to your car" (and issue a safety notice about the dangers of "non-approved steering locks")
 
And nobody actually wanted any of this crap in the first place. The manufacturers have thrust it upon consumers to try and get one up on their rivals.
 
My other car has an electronic handbrake, I am praying to the car gods that it is just corrosion/pads problem otherwise the rear subframe needs dropping to get at the motor!:eek:
 
Apparently these scanner thingies don't work if you keep your key in a metal box. So just leave it in the car.
 
Agree re "apparently.." and also that the manufacturer will deny there has very been a problem, claim its impossible, say this is the first time/freak accident before loads of clips get uploaded to you tube and finally they start talking
