Connected the nanocom evo to my discoo td5 and got fault cod 1.7 air flow circuit (logged low). Anyone got any ideas. I`m thinking it could be air flow meter or maybe somehow because ive disconected egr valve. Anyone got any ideas.
 
Notacloo, but I'd be taking the air inlet pipes and air filter apart to see if mice or similar have been nesting ...

according to OBDII descriptions this must be it(though Td5 is not OBDII compliant)

Mass air flow (MAF) sensor/volume air flow - voltage low -> Probable cause: Wiring short to earth, supply voltage, earth connection, MAF sensor, ECM

Erase it then check again after a few miles... maybe it was just a momentary issue

Use your Nanocom to check the MAF output whilst the engine is running.

Should read about 50-60kpa on tickover and about 600kpa on full throttle.
 
Checked as you said and nanocom has zero reading on air flow (assuming you mean in tihe insruments part. ) Cleared the fault and the fault comes straight back 1.7 . Is there any other tests i can do. Car runs and starts as it should and disconecting makes no difference.
 
u can check the wiring/supply... continuity checks with multimeter.

u have attached the pin disposals

1. Disconnect and check with voltmeter on pin 3 of the MAF sensor(with ignition on) ...it must be live battery supply there

2. Set on Ohms and check for continuity between the ECM red plug and the MAF plug(ignition off)...there must be closed circuit between red plug pin 11 > maf pin 2 and red 20 > maf 1

3. Check between pins of the maf plug and between each pin and earth with both plugs disconnected...there must be open circuit

... if these are OK put a new(genuine) sensor... if even after that u'll get the fault code then unfortunately the problem is within the ECM.

Follow Fery's instructions if you can as he is a real wizard with electronics , but imo Sounds like your MAF is goosed.

I buy them off Ebay for about £30 and both have worked fine.

Just to let you know i have recieved new sensor today and will be fifting with new air filter. I will update tomorrow to let you all know if this solves the problem. That is if this rain ever stops .
 
New air filter fitted along with new maf air sensor , cleared the 1.7low air fault code and..................still the same fault just comes straight back and instrument part of nanocom states that there is no air . waiting for mate to check loom any other idras.

I've not used Nanocom before I used Hawkeye, but I thought that in instrument mode you could see what is happening with the engine running and check the outputs of MAF, MAP, AAP, wastegate modulator etc?

So with MAF it should read in units as well as voltages - something like 60kpa at tickover and 600 at full chat. Are you sure you are in the right section of Nanocom?
 
Yes the nanocom shows all parameters in instruments mode and this shows as you said turbo pressure, voltage,etc etc but it shows air senser with no figure shown. Ie 000.000 and then combined with a logged fault in td5 dianostics section stating low air inlet 1.7. Going to try and bell out loom this weekend but any advice still welocome.
 
Update as promised. Done all the testing and found that there was no power to the maf sensor, so belled out all the brown and pink wire from sensor all the way back to the fuse board. Fuse board, fuse board, fuse board. Checked all the fuses and noticed f2 engine symbol with lightening strike was blown. Changed fuse and now all working as it should. Thought i would just reconnect old sensor just to see if the old sensor was broken and bang fuse blew again. So summarry, when original maf sensor went down, it blew the fuse, put new sensor in but this would not work as fuse still blown, new fuse with new sensor and bingo. A big thankyou for all your help and i hope this post may help others.:):)
