So I have recently purchased a 2004 L322 TD6 and am working my way through some niggles. I have a very bad vibration / noise which I have narrowed down to the drivers side wiper arm. (If I touch it the vibration stops as it does if I engage the wipers) Only happens (or I can only tell / hear) when car is stationery but with drive engaged. Has anyone come across this before as I can’t see any reason the wiper would do this. TY in advance

Thank you for your reply, It doesn’t seem to be loose. I am waiting for a new passenger side wiper arm to arrive so will remove both and reseat the vibrating one and see if that helps. Will update again once done

So I finally got the replacement wiper arm so fitted that at the weekend and whilst at it removed the drivers side wiper and reattached it. Vibration still there so it seems that the vibration is resonating through the car causing the wipers to vibrate loudly which I am now putting down to rough running engine (possibly injectors) and a torque converter that is on it's way out. I get the cattle grid noise / sensation under specific loads at certain speeds, car also judders at around 55mph slowly accelerating in 5th gear (but no rev counter needle move) so having read a number of posts it shows all the torque converter signs. New TC ordered and in the meantime will do a full service on the car change the fluids and pop a tin of BG through to see if I can clear up the rough running a little.

This is when full disclosure helps ;)
Good luck with the TC etc. Although I was unlucky enough to have injector issue and GB issue at same time. Took ages to work out the GB had been repaired correctly, as we kept blaming it, because it had been wrong.
Lesson learned from that one
