I recently bought a '71 registered landy :) it had a few repairs done so far, and still requires a fair bit of work, but it runs quite nicely.

My question is, is there a way to reduce its noise?! its had all its gears replaced to shiny new ones and there's nothing wrong with it per se... just that I feel guilty going anywhere with it after dark because it makes such a raucus :p I've heard other landys go past and they don't sound half as loud and angry as my beast!

not as far as I can see... I'll go and take another look tomorrow morning in the light... its a conundrum, I say!

mine quietened down a lot when i re-made the joint where the zorst fannymold joins the down pipe. i used some jointing compound.
it was only blowing a bit, but i wuz amazed how much difference it made.

they do thump, but shun't be enuff to embarass you driving at night. Run your hands all around the zorst (not touching it obviously!) manifolds as well (mind the fan FFS!)

If it's blowing in a couple of places it can make a serious difference to how loud it sounds.

get a old rag and hold it over the eggzorst exit. you will find any leaks or weak points in the whole system. if it int leaking yer injun will most likely stall

has it got the right air filter on it? i took the oil bath off me doosil an swapped it out for one of those boy racer performance induction kit filters and the landy went from sounding like a tractor to sounding like a squadron of WW2 bombers.....

.....now the exhaust manifold leaks as well so its back to soundin like a LOUD tractor :D
