Hi All, I recently replaced all four shocks on my 110 with Armstrong HD items and since then it's developed a loud bang everytime I go over a speed bump or run over a pot hole. It's a bone jarring bang that doesnt sound very healthy at all. When going over a speed bump and the rear comes over it bangs then bangs again when I've levelled out...like a double bang. Hard to describe really. Seems to be more on the rear nearside. Any thoughts or ideas of what it may be? I was thinking either A frame bush or maybe the rear nearside shock is shot? I've had a search of the forums but couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance. Andy.

Never fitted these armstrongs before
Dunno if they gas charged or oil or what but with a traditional shocker it's good practice to prime em before fitting by extending and compressing them by hand
Might not be your issue but it's strange noise has appeared after this work so must be related
Don't mean to be rude but are the fixings all tight and installed in the correct order?
Hope this helps

I think armstrongs are the std oe fit.
But as Gavin has said if it wasnt there before and is now its your fault!

As well as bushes and A frame ball joint as possible culprits, I'd take the shocks off temporarily and see if they compress and expand smoothly by hand. Drive over a bump with them off and see if you can still get the noise. Are the springs sitting comfortably? Could they have got shifted on their seats when the car was jacked up?

don't know if this applies to you but I just changed my rear dampers on the 90 and I noticed the axle end damper mount was ovalised which would allow sliding in certain conditions...I haven't tried it on the road yet to hear if this will cause noise but how much movement was present on yours?

Failing that the A frame swivel sounds favourite...how old if yours

Thanks everyone for all your opinions and advice. Apologies for not getting back sooner but been busy with Rememberance weekend.
I'll take note of all the comments and put it to my mechanic mate. I have noticed that it is only coming from the rear nearside so it could possibly be a faulty shock which is making the spring do all the work which is causing the body to crash down onto the chassis.
Thanks again..hopefully it'll be sorted soon :)
