I can't believe how rotten the rear step was on my 2003 Disco with less than 90k on it! I also had to replace the rear brake shields as they had holes in along with the calipers, discs and brake carriers. I do wonder if it was used to reverse a boat into the sea.........Chassis is all good, thank God!

Looks as if it could have been part of the RN's sub fleet, hard to believe that the chassis has not been attacked when other bits are so rotted, have you checked wheel bearings?
Seen a few old boat trailers in similar condition though.

The chassis on my D2,was in a similar condition, not just the step.

Chassis is fine. I had the tank out last year to replace the fuel lines. It had surface rust but was solid. I wire brushed it, coated in rust killer and then in waxoyl.

My old T plate D2 had a cracking chassis but have seen many newer ones in a very sorry state:eek:

Good friend of mine works for Land Rover and they totally wrote off a 04 td5 as the chassis was all but rusted in half!!!
