Just got a Land Rover 90 Ex Mod. It's in great shape but there is a lot of thick paint to be removed. I have read some other posts on how to do it but I would like to hear opinions of which is better; sander vs chemicals. I would like to spray it myself but appreciate any advise guys have for a newbie. Thanks.

soda blaster is way to go. chemical removal can fook you up with fumes and getting on your skin. Think of pets, kids, wife and were you are doing it at.

Soda blaster is a great idea, but I'm trying to do it on a budget by myself. Dr_Evil, by flap disk do you mean sander - sorry I'm stationed in the UK but not completely familiar with all the terms. Thanks guys.

angle grinder disc with flaps of sandpaper layered upon it, use something fine ish and it'll eat through the paint easily without being too harsh on the metal beneath

I use 40grit when smoothing out welds so something like 100 would probably be about right I think

This is the UK we don't sue every fooker just because we can..

Ya right........ You telling me if you are in your house and some one is doing this and the wind blows paint dust in you house nothing will be done . You gat nothing to worry about living in back of a car and in car parks.

Well Red what would you do if you had a house and some bloke was sanding the paint off it and the wind blew paint dust in then

If it's an issue, you go and have a friendly chat. If they are nasty and don't stop it, then you start to complain and get cops or whatever in. I know my neighbours and they aren't nasty.. so it would never get that far.
