Hello,
I have stupidly lost the keys for my series 3 I was wondering if I can have the keys for the ignition renewed if I go to locksmith however no one in Dundee is willing to take the job on, heard on the Facebook Forums it can be done tho.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not too sure what you mean by having the keys renewed. You will probably need to to fit a new barrel into the column lock, not very expensive unless you have to change the whole mechanism. The key barrel can be removed but usually you need to have a key in the lock to do it. Whenever I lose something, I look for something else I've lost and then find the other thing. It seems to work nearly every time.

I do not know if it is the same for the later model but I know for the earlier centre dash key locks the barrel is coded and you can just order a matching key for the barrel code. I did this for a series 2 dash panel I bought second hand to use bits for a series 1, it did not come with a key but matched the code, ordered a key, and had a fully working ignition switch again. Do not know if there is something similar for the later steering column lock barrels? if not it will be replacing the barrel as said above.

As above, if you are lucky there's a number. The problem is that you need to turn the key to pos 1 to get the barrel out. Once its out its possible for a locksmith (or you) to work out the key from the pins. Its worth trying a few similar worn keys as you may be able to wiggle it pos 1 then push the pin down and pull it out.

If it’s a diesel with the pull stop do everything possible to get a new key fitted. The ignition is no longer made and a tad expensive.

Only three years late! But I did did not know they no longer made the diesel one, I will have to be more careful with my keys!

Never too late to lose one’s keys.
Sadly mine was smashed in a theft attempt so had to be replaced.

Bobsticle not at at fault here, there was a spam bot posting which bumped the thread beforehand.
