got into the disco this morning and the radio did not come on as it usually does, then the stat nav fed from the cigar lifter socket was not operating, second position on ignition key panel lights up and starts just fine, try to clear the screen but the wipers will not operate nor will the washers. tried all the fuses but the relay R8 is stuck in the engine fuse box. this relay has a book in the diagram on the fuses box lid but I can't find the appropriate diagram or reference, could the fault be this relay or is it the BCU??? not having a diagnostic reader I struggling in deep deep voodoo, any help please anybody. thanks

Vehicle type will help.
Sorry guys it's a 2004 discovery 2 Pursuit model facelift. Td5 D2
Checked all the fuses relays as best as I could ignition switch, Looking like BCU but no instrument to check have rung Farnel's at Nelson for a full diagnostic but they haven't got back to me?

You could try taking the fusebox out and looking on the back of it, to check for corrosion, burning broken wires etc.
Very common to need to replace them.

R8 is for the heated front screen, for your problem check fusible link FL7 engine bay and swap relays R7(aux circuits which feeds the radio, cigar lighter and wipers) with R3(headlamp wash), if they work that way replace R7 with a new one and put R3 back...if no joy the interior fusebox(IDM) or the engine bay fusebox are more suspect than the BCU which has nothing to do with the cigar ligter or radio with the washer, that's activated only by the switch and relay.

Hi guys I have solved problem but I don’t know how? Removed the fuse box engine compartment no corrosion or damaged cables pulled out all the lugs and added contact grease and replaced still same problem, started on the passenger fuse box same thing no faults checked all relays and fuse none damaged so pulled the plugs and added contact grease again reassembled connected battery and waited for ten minutes ignition position two and bingo all back to normal. Thanks for all advice.
