Hi All,
I hope some expert out there can give me some guidance. I have searched and found a thread with similar symtoms to mine but I think a different cause so here goes -
I have owned many Land Rovers over the years but have just purchased, for the first time, a 2005 Freelander 2.0 TD4.
Looking to get a bit more oomph out of it I have checked out all the suggested tuning upgrades but thought I would start with the simplest and change the air filter for a K&N.
Result = under about 2,200 rpm it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding but if you keep the revs up it goes really well (but, as you can imagine it is a pain to drive.
Thinking it might 'settle dowm' I drove it for a couple of weeks but no change so a few days ago changed the filter back to the original one (which is clean) - Problem solved!
I could just leave it as it is but I am intrigued as to why swapping to the K&N should produce these symptoms. I can only imagine that it is highlighting an existing problem that the standard air filter isn't..
Any clues?
Many thanks,
