My Discovery slewed across the carriage way last friday night and back on to the left lane then went through a hedge and wall and did a 360 degree overturn.the car is now a right off and i dont know what caused it.it was as if it his black ice.no tyr problems and no driver error and no excess speed. any ideas, brakes, power steering?anyone else had similar problems?

Friend had same thing happen in another discovery 6 months ago and he hit a wall.neither of us were hurt at all and the cockpit was fantastic with no damage, but my car is a right off.I am not keep to buy another (my third) until I know why this happened.any suggestions

Hi Linda,

Is it a V8 automatic or manual, diesel automatic or manual?

Hi Linda,

Sorry I have only just logged into my personal email account and just saw your reply, I was expecting the response on the Forum.

I have owned two manual diesel Discoverys and three Defender 90s and have driven over 100,000 miles in them and never suffered what you describe? If it was an automatic V8 petrol, then it could have posssibly been the car "kicked down" and caused the incident, but......

Sounds like an over correction leading to a tank slapper to me, can be made worse by worn dampers, tyre pressures etc.

Probably easier to sort out on a R1 too.

But please don't tell me that these don't drive like tanks

There's been stuff in the press lately about Disco 3's & possible problems (Land Rover Owner International - This month page 16 - "Are we being kept in the dark?"). Cos of all the 'lektrics. Things like the car lowering itself to access height (they do that?) even at motorway speeds!

Could Linda's problem have been caused by something like that? Sounds bloody nasty whatever.
