1. Good day, I hope someone will be able to help me, my one radiator pipe popped out and it got hot, but I stopped immediately, I repaired it and filled up with coolent, this was about 40000km ago. I have been loosing coolant gradually getting more and more. I can see no leaks, no loss of power, no mayniase in oil or water, passed gas test ect ect. I do smell coolent sometimes when standing in front of the car and my windscreen foggs up on the inside when driving in rain. There is a pressure build up in my expansion tank, but no gas. I replaced the cap, tried to put stop leak, nothing work and I can not figure where the water is disepearing, but it is bad now have to fill up 3to 5 times a day. Just before it all started there were black out in my expansion tank, this has cleared up, I would appreciate some advice. I have 350000 km on the clock. My outomatic gearbox has also started to slip between 2 and 3, and is just not smooth in the lower gears any longer, I don't know if it is related.

It's possible to have a leak that drips onto exhaust or other hot areas, then evaporates
If there's too much pressure in the expansion tank, that would suggest head gasket

If no external leaks, head gasket
Thanks for reply, I also thought so, but there is no gas or oil coming into the cooling system, I have had it tested at different services stations, there is no loss of power, no steam coming from exhaust. At the rate the water is disappearing, it should run like a steam train lol

This was also my thought, but gas tests shows no gas and no bubbles when running motor, it only seems when I put the cap back on, it sohow starts to build pressure.

Dust the usual suspects in the engine bay with talc ... run it for a day or so, see if any tracking can be seen ...

If no joy, try less usual unions, heater tubes etc ...

I had a leak on a Disco only showed when up to pressure, dripped down on to the gearbox/engine join and off toward the rear ....

I will try that, thank you

Wet internal carpets?
If you are fogging up inside may show wet inside the car.

just a thought:)

Does it have a coolant/ transmission cooler, could be leaking internally, and your coolant ending up in gearbox, specially as you mentioned problems 2nd-3rd gear

I will open the geabox drain an filler plug tomorrow and inspect, I did hit an animal a just before this all started, I had to fit a new radiator, one of the gear oil cooler pipes is slightly bent.

I agree this does sound rather to coincidental to not be related to the problem.

My thoughts on misted up inside would lead me to think the heater matrix is leaking. I dunno where it is on an F2, but its a normal candidate on an F1 and leaking coolant can evaporate or collect under mats/carpets unnoticed for a a while.

I replaced the gearbox oil, gearbox is running and changing smooth now, I remove the thermostat and found a leak at the back of the casing. I also flushed the cooling system, I found a blockage in the gearbox oil cooler, I replaced the expansion tank cap, I drove a short distance with no problem, I will take a longer drive this morning and pray that the problem is fixed.
