Now I've finally finished college, found myself a full time job... I can finally start saving for my own Defender 90, preferably a 200tdi.

My budget is around £4000, possibly £5000 if I decide to sell my current car. I've been on a few garage's sites, such as Nene Overland which is relatively local, but their prices are all around 10k which is just not affordable for me right now.

I may just use private selling sites such as gumtree, which I've also been browsing and found a fair few within my price range. The question is though - will these actually be any good, with not too much work required?

Any general advice would be much appreciated!

Hi

Have a search on here mate, theres quite alot of advice about buying a defender.

For 4-5K you should be able to get a decent enough 300tdi 90 (1994-1998)

Best advise would be to take someone along who knows about defenders, rust the main issue.

Where a abouts are you? And what use do you want your fender for? Just being nosey that's all :D

I live in norfolk, near hunstanton.
I wanna use it for everything really, general use, bit of green laning .. The usual stuff haha.

My mate is thinking of getting a discovery next year, so some grand adventures will be in order!

I'd speak to a specialist like Nene as they will prob know of a few good used Land Rover dealers in the area, you should pick up a nice 200/300 90 station wagon for your price range!

I'd avoid gumtree as there's a lot of ****e on there but occasionally a bargain could be found if your lucky ;)

Buy mine, its in north essex so not far and is an excellent truck, 200TDi, 24spline running gear, lifted with proper pucka gear (£1500 Extreme4x4 lift kit), winch & quality bumper, all the guards needed, a Pressbrake rear cross member and a solid chassis, mud tyres, raptor dash, the list goes on... looking for £4500 and trust me, you couldn't build one of this spec for anywhere near that!!!
