Hi Chaps,

I have a Disco 1, (I think), 98 plate with 2 keys, but 1 x 2 button key fob.
I would like another to have a spare, (Just in case).

Please would someone kindly suggest whether it is possible to buy a new one from ebay, and program it myself.
or if someone can suggest a contact around the London area,
where I can buy one/programmed at a reasonable price, that would also be good.

Or, maybe I can buy a new one from Ebay and pop down to someone who has a "nanocom", (whatever that is), maybe that's a cheaper solution.

I'm sure I saw a post with a secret procedure to program key fob on this site, but now I can't find it.

Thanks

I need to get another one for mine aswell , i bought a used one off ebay but couldnt get it to work with my car

Whopping £140 !!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but I can't find someone to re-program it in my area, (as yet).
Otherwise this would be my preferred option, as it would probably be the cheapest.
If you know of someone in the Gtr London area who would do this for me, that would be helpful.

I also require another set of keys so will be keeping an eye on this, let me know what you do. Went to out local Timpsons and thy quoted me something daft like 170 quid!

Programming, is telling the fob (instructions) on what it has to do and how and when to do it (communication protocol) when one of the buttons is pressed...

Synchronizing, is just to ensure the fobs communication is in time (in sequence) with the systems ECU after the vehicle or fobs battery has been disconnected....

The only sure way is to get a new fob from the likes of RemoteKey.

Hi, I'm assuming you have used these guys before, and you were happy with their work.

This is what Remote Key do ... How to programme a Land Rover Discovery 300TDI 2 button remote key fob - YouTube

OK, there is a procedure in the Rave for this, but it's is for '96 and older vehicles...

For newer vehicles I think it's a Land Rover dealer specific computer or scanner to program the fobs, might be able to do it with a Nanocom ...

someone else will know ...

I reckon, that either there was a mis-match of the codes on the back of the fob that you had, and the one you bought from Ebay.

Or the fob you bought from Ebay was faulty.

As both the used fobs I got worked on my car after re-programming.

I got a couple of used key fobs from my local breakers, and went to this guy to get them re-programmed while I waited.

He supplies and programs new fobs, and repairs broken ones too.
He charged me £45 for re-programming 2 x old fobs in 5 mins.
He even gave me my cars EKA No. Excellent service.

He's out and about a lot, so book an appointment to avoid waiting.
