Hello LandyZone,

I am 17 and quite keen on getting a lond rover series 3 as a first car had my mind set on one for years now. So got my dad to ring up and get quotes ranged from £4K-10k .. WTF

Where do you suggest i look to get insurace a lot cheaper? is there a specific year of landrover i should look at as well?

Surely there must be a way of getting cheaper insurance than 4K ... my dad called shearwater they were the most expensive.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Romeo

Hello Romeo. We are not an insurance broker nor a comparison website. Try comparethemarket.com or similar if you're after insurance quotes, that's what we do. Unfortunately there are no magical insurance companies that insure land rovers for buttons, its all business

No i appreciate that and i have tried, but after reading other threads of others being insured for like £1000 or less i would like some useful info as to whom they were insured with. Rather than tell me you are not an insurance company

Just saying. Oh and you might want to head over to the introduce yourself bit as well before the hounds close in

My insurance is expensive and I'm paying over 1k and I'm 21.
Although it's due in March so I'll see if it's come down then.

Long story short, you're judged on being male and an inexperienced driver.

If it was going to be you paying out, would you give cheap insurance to a high risk customer?

Oh no i completely agree with you but its just when you see other accounts of cheap insurance on a car like a landy you wonder if it actually can be done that cheaply.
I understand about the risk on there hands though, if i ran a company i would probably charge the same. Got to have a go at getting it slightly cheaper than £4k don't you think??

Just wondering have you driven a Series yet. ;)

10 years ago when I was 17 I was paying £1500 Fire & theft, Same vehicle but with a 200tdi engine instead of the 2.5td I'm now paying £189 fully comp.

See thats acceptable because i think my mates corsa is like just under £2k to insure but then that is 10 years ago i mean it seems some insurance companies just do it to gain a few quid off the young ... but i guess that is another arguement for another day :p

Try Lancaster and Adrian Flux. I guess a lot of places won't even bother because you're 17 though.

I think a series with no mods will be the cheapest to insure.

Cheers Calum ... hope so i will try them tomorrow, get dad insured as a second driver apparently that brings it down a tad. NFU worth giving a go??

I'm under 1500 quid, 18 and kermit's a 200tdi

Edit: It does get cheaper, but the more research you do the better, often it's best to ring around the specific insurers rather than using the comparison sites thats how i got the best deal possible. I have a friend who did the same and he's 18 and only £1300 on a subaru!

Daughters dropped from £1000 to £750 with me named on it and down to £600 with her mother also named.

I pay £195 fully comp for my Disco II :p:p:p:p:p
