My heater blower on my 86 Defender 90 packed in the other day but pinpointing where the fault lies has so far eluded me. The story so far is as follows ;

Checked fuse but OK
Checked fuse holder but no power showing ( with switch and ignition on )
Checked both sets of wires going into blower and one showed 0 volts and the other showed 0.01 volt ( switch and ignition on )
Checked switch in on position for restance but OK
Put a test wires to heater blower direct from battery and hey presto blower now working.

So I'm now thinking it's a wiring fault but someone mentioned it could be a problem with the relay for the blower motor ( which would kind of would explain the strange reading of 0.01 volts showing on one set of wires ) the Haynes book makes no metion of a specific relay for the motor blower so now I'm a bit perplexed. Does my model use a relay for the blower motor and if so where could I find it?

Cheers.

What style fuses do you have?
If they glass make sure they are clean & good contact.

No relay is used for the heater on that year.

Real old tech and uses the lever switch itself to move the leccy around, pop the binnacle off and you will see it all on the left hand side.

I replaced that a while ago with a simple on/off switch as it had basicaly worn out and was struggling to make it's contacts.
