Hi All,

got T-boned by a van recently and i'm now looking to start the rebuild process,
the front 1/4 of the chassis is slightly bent from impact, from just behind the spring seats, causing the front legs to be bent slightly to the drivers side, causing the front axle to sit a few cm out than it should on one side.

the rest of the chassis is absolutely mint so i dont want to rip it off and just throw away a good chassis essentially, and the replacement front 1/4 chassis is not big enough to completely fix the bend.
im wondering if any one has straightened their chassis back out? and what effects it would have on the structure and strength of the front of the chassis.

i was thinking replace the 1/4 with a new piece and straigten out the remainder of the bend once thats cut away, so less of the frame will be weak from straightening, and maybe add some plates to support the damaged area.

any thoughts on this?
haven't had to deal with something like this before, so i'm clueless.

Done it on a series years ago, chassis was wrinkled on the out side of the rail where the loom goes in. Cut out the wrinkled side and top plate and put a slice in the lower plate. It was then not to hard to jack thing back to the right position and weld in fresh metal where bits were missing.

Presumably your Landy was a write-off after the accident? And you’ve bought it back on the cheap? I’d be looking at getting a new chassis really, galvanised for the extra expense. I’d never trust a chassis that had been bent out of shape and 1/4 of it replaced. That’s just what I’d be thinking, especially as it’ll be more or less a rebuild.
