Hi, it might seem like a silly Question, ok it is a silly question.
but what were long mirror arms for, unless its so you can see past anything wide you towing, or were they fitted to something special?

Used for vehicles that tow wide trailers regularly, wide-bodied coachbuilts (ambulance, motorcaravan etc) and if you have a side-mounted spare-wheel.
