Hi All,

Doing a pinion seal on the Discovery 1, the guide says that the loating pin/cap should be re-installed with loctite 601 or 638, i'm struggling to get some locally, and mail order is too slow.

Is there anything else i can use to do the same job? not really sure why the loctite is needed, the cover appears to be an interferance fit over the nut anyway.

Thanks for any help

Matt

how about loctites stud and bearing fit?

"We have a wide selection of Loctite products available. Loctite Stud 'N' Bearing Fit is effective in facilitating the refitting of bearings into worn bearing housings. The compound securely seals between the bearing and its housing to eliminate fretting and corrosion. It also helps achieve the correct alignment of the bearing prior to setting.

Features and Benefits

Locks and seals studs into position
Seals against leaks and vibrations
Retains bearings into new and used housing"

Local Halfords Carry That

Thanks

Matt
