Street map well... i'd guess it's got ahhhh streets listed on it.

The definitive map is the councils publicly accessible record of all the current LEGAL rights of way.

I understand this but back in july I posted about a lane in Stretton that had been downgraded to a bridal way on the Definitive map
At the time ne jones posted saying that according to the Shropshire County Council List of Streets it was still driveable .
So whats the diffrence and where can I find the LOS as Salop CC website talks about it but dosn't show it.

There are many instances of RoWs featuring on the LoS and DM, and the NERC act removed vehicluar righst from all Dual Status routes - effectively making the DM status prime. So if it appears on both and is not a Byway on the DM it has no vehicular rights.

I'd expect the LoS is held in Shrewsbury, on paper.
Let me google that for you

The Definitive Map shows all the Public Rights of Way in a County as as defined by the various acts over the years, eg, Footpaths, Bridleways and Byways Open to All Traffic.
The List of Streets covers all the roads within a County, A roads, B roads, C roads etc, the majority being ordinary tarmacked roads, but it some areas it may include some which are unsurfaced. It is generally (but not universally) accepted that you have a right to drive along them.
The real problem is when a lane appears on both, and has different classifications...

Just in case anyone thinks Rights of Way law is straightforward, my knowledge (now hopelessly out of date) resulted from a weekend residential course, and that only scratched the surface.
