the lights switch in the car bulb has gone to replace it do you just pull it out or must you take half the dashboard out

any help will be appreciated

im guessing you have a P38?? if so you need to remove part of the dash to do it. you use the same procedure when replacing the bulbs in the facia switches/clock etc.

basically,

1) You remove the two side panels on the centre console - (4 screws)

2) Then remove the drivers side lower panel (panel above your knees when sitting in the car). Be CAREFUL when removing this - undo the 2 small screws either side of the steering wheel and then remove the 4 screw plug/cap things very gently (they seem impossible to get hold of if you break them - previous owner of my P38 broke them and LR still havent got hold of new ones for me) and then remove the 4 large screws SUPPORTING the panel as you do - lower it being careful not to damage the ventilation pipe going to it - you can just unclip the vent from the panel - (6 screws)

3) Remove the trim round the instruments but dont actually remove the instrument binnacle itself - as you remove the last screw and remove it be careful of the fuel flap connetor - just unclip it being careful not to knock or get near the yellow cable going into the instrument binnacle - (4 screws)

4) Remove the plastic radio surround - i just gently used my fingers and pulled on the bottom of the plastic either side, it unclipped and came away fine, no need to remove the radio volume knob.

5) Now remove the 5 screws that hold the facia in place and bring the whole forward towards the back of the vehicle. i found its easiest to be on the passenger side when you get to this stage.

unplug and unclip the switch and replace the bulb (STC3115 is the bulb for the headlight knob)

now reverse removal procedure...

info with pics are here

my tip would be NOT to rush the job and take your time. first time i did it i took almost an hour and a half. ive done it since in about 45 mins however just take your time :)

if you havent removed the centre console side panels before then def. read up on how to do it from the link in the page above, this is what slowed me down the first time round.

HTH
