im taking out my engine tomorrow but unsure how to lift it, the haynes book says to take out a head bolt and make a bracket up to lift it there but i dont like that idear, any better idears?

Aye like Sirus says;) Thur's one at the front just to right of the water pump and one at the back near where the breather pipes are.

thanks i used a long strop as there isnt a lifting point at the rear of the 200tdi only the front

I has a huge stack of 1tonne swl round slings, from the plumbers merchants. They is used to deliver the copper pipes etc, but they is disposable and are left behind by the truck drivers.

Hmm that's odd! There's one one mine...

;):D

My mates 90 300 only has one on the front, cos the lazy bastid that did his HG didn't put it back on for him... thoughtfully left it on top of his heater box for him instead!

Some seem to have one at the front, some have both and occasionally you see one without any. I got meself a couple of ebay for about a fiver and just pop em on when I need to. The head bolt at the back and the front bolts to the head by the thermostat housing but you could use one of the head bolts just the same.

think maybe its discos that dont have one as it looks like there is not alot of space there
