Hi
I am experiencing top end speed power loss with my 300tdi.
From reading on here it would seem that the lift pump could be the cause so I followed some instructions I read somewhere to 'test' the pump.

I took out the bleed screw from the top of the fuel filter and turned the engine over, initially nothing spurted out the top but did shoot out after around 3 seconds.

does anyone have any idea of how to interpret this?
what i think, is that the fuel filter was not full due to the lift pump being faulty. as far as i know it should be full, so should have spurted out straight away?

thanks in advance

thomas

undo banjo on front of pump and see what comes out there ,bleed screw on filter is not allways a good check, its best to bleed system there as well as it removes all air, fit clear plastic pipe in between filter and pump will be best check for air in system, more likely air as pump if no air will pull fuel through if pipe work etc in good condition
