Hi,

Quick question, I have a 6 bolt PAS box that is leaking from the bottom seal... is it worth repairing it with a new seal kit? How easy and dose it work, i.e doing the reseal kit your self as a diy job? Do you need any special tools.... like a press?

if you can get drop arm of you can change seal with box in situ how successful that is depends on the condition of shaft were the seal runs, if you decide box is scrap the 4 bolt box is a direct replacement

@doriz

I did not do a reseal, Still contemplating if it is worth it or to throw the box. I just replaced with a 4 bolt this week, Biggest issue was the pipe connections, but the 14mm and 16mm ( I suspect they might be imperial , but I have not got them and metric fitted nicely) crows feet spanners made undoing them easy with a few 3/8 extensions. I also have used the Laser drop arm tool to remove the drop arm from the 6 bolt unit just for fun, (But as I understand it , the two drop arms are different from each other, I have not tried to see if one fits the other) I used the 950Nm impact gun to wind that tool down and it popped off. Interesting point was the nut on the 6 bolt box was 36mm the nut on the 4 bolt is 34mm.

Cheers

I looking for a new 4 bolt then I’ll attempt to refurbish the old with Britannia help

When I looked at 6 bolt seal kits I thought they were expensive, I found a good 4 bolt box for £50 so have fitted that.

Cheers
