My son's fuel tank on a 2002 TD5 leaks somewhere on top when he fills it up. Stops leaking when the tank gets to about three quarters full. Been in the garage twice but still not sorted. First time they replaced the seal around or near the fuel pump? hoping this would fix it. Second time they dropped the tank and checked and pressure tested all fuel lines and replaced anti syphon pipe that was perished. Still leaking! They did say one or two of the fuel lines had been connected together but didn't see this as a problem and also said the tank had been out before - any ideas guys?

Hmm... Whilst the tank was out, I'd have been checking the actual tank itself for any holes or leaks (I know it's plastic so won't rust, but that doesn't stop it getting damaged ;) )

One very easy thing to do, at least with the tank installed and fuel system working, is to remove the fuel pump access panel in the boot floor and have a look to see if there's an obvious leak from the part of the tank you can see.

Thinking back to the last (Only! ??) time I brimmed my tank full, it overflowed up the filler neck AND left the top of the tank awash, causing diesel to drip down from various sites at the top of the tank..... Just a thought...
