After owning my 2000 V8 Auto for 2 month I think I’ve just about got it into a state where I can consider an LPG conversion. I know from what I’ve read on here LPG needs an engine running well on petrol to run well on gas so I want it right before I have it converted. I bought the car for the right money its solid and in great condition inside and out so I figure its worth doing
So far I’ve replace coil packs and leads, both lamda sensors, valley gasket (due to coolant loss), full service new MOT (first time pass) and I have a new Rad on the way. I’ve now stopped all coolant leaks (Apart from small one on Rad but this will soon be done). Improved mpg, now getting about 18-19mpg combined was more like 12-13.
The last and I guess the hardest problem is a lack of power and rough running under load!! Runs fine on flat powers good changes gear well. But not so good going uphill accelerates to about 30mph then just runs out of power and keeps changing down a gear then straight back up!! Engine doesn’t rev over 2500rpm no matter how far I press the pedal. So am inclined to think it’s not a gear problem and as I said it run sweet as a nut when not under load???
I’ve disconnected the MAF but this didn’t make any difference so basically I’m stuck? How likely is it to be the MAF? Previously I had a MAF fail on a V6 Ford but when it was disconnected it ran fine but as I said disconnecting this has made no difference!!

does it go over 2500rpm on partial throttle ?

have you tried disconecting the battery for 30mins?

I had the same thing and it was the maf , disconnecting made no difference .

its like hitting a rev limiter at 2500rpm

changed the maf and it solved it

mine also a 2000 v8 auto

I bought a used one off fleabay and it has been ok. Paid £40 delivered . From what I've heard original is best. (bosche)

New MAF arrived today, took 2 mins to fit and what a difference HAY PRESTO problem sloved now it pulls like a V8 should!! Revs freely on the steepest of hills and just keeps accelerating even the gear changes are allot smoother.
Will give it a week or two to be 100% everything is 100% then time for LPG.

LPG safety certificate for the insurance:):)

I've just been paid out on my insurance, after someone ran in the back of me. I was worried my certificate had expired and they didn't even ask for proof of LPG on my car at all. They just put £500 on top of the value!!!
