Hi. I'm new to this forum and if possible would like some constructive advice.
I plan to go to Portugal next week towing a caravan and a couple of things concern me. The vehicle is a 1994 model Defender 110SW 200TDI (Ex AA) with 220,000 miles but the engine was replaced in Nov 05 and the gearbox and diff a year earlier. The chassis and bulkhead are superb and it has a new rear crossmember and fuel tank (rear shunt). The only rough parts are the doors but they work. If anyone would like to offer advice, i would be grateful.
1. The engine fan seems a bit shaky with engine off but running the fan seems ok and the engine doesn't overheat on the guage. Should I think about changing it or maybe it needs tightening up (I havn't looked inside the cowl yet). Is this a common problem?
2. I have been told to take a spare water pump just in case. Is there anything else that comes to anybody's mind?
Parts are expensive in Portugal and can be hard to come by. I feel confident about the vehicle but things can, and do go wrong. Any comments grateful. Thanks Ken.

May be worth while taking out some sort of recovery package/insurance, as the last thing you'll want is to get halfway there and the engine/gearbox to xplode.
Good Luck.
