A couple of weeks ago I set off out of a junction and had t floor it as a car appeared quite quickly.
I heard a noise that sounded like the front n/s wheel had spun on some gravel (windows closed) and knowing that the tread was getting low assumed that they had just lost grip when I floored it.
Anyway, I thought no more about the noise and changed the tyres a week or so later, along with polybushing which I had been waiting to do (that was a pig of a job).
This week I had to set off quickly again and the window was open, the noise came again and it definitely was not a tyre losing traction on stones.
It was a loud grinding / ratcheting noise coming from the front end somewhere, but difficult to place.
There is no issue with normal driving, but something obviously can't cope with a sudden large increase in torque.
Is this common, any ideas chaps?
